We live in a culture that values results. I have to say, I do too! Most of us create lists of things to do, and we try our best to get through today’s list knowing that tomorrow has a full list of its own. Not only do we strive to produce results of our own, we also admire and respect other people who are able to deliver results. We are impressed when the people we live with or work with really come through.
However, we can become so focused on results that we overlook relationships. It is so easy to just put our heads down and plow through our day trying to get as much done as possible.
But in the end, if we want our lives to be fulfilling and meaningful and successful; we have to not only be efficient, we have to be effective. And if we want to be effective, we need to take time for relationships. When we take a moment to listen, or stop by and say hello, or really try to see another’s perspective, we’ll find that not only does the work get done but we enjoy it so much more!
Have a great week, everyone.
