As we stand on the cusp of this season, which is holy for people of several different faiths, one of the things that I am celebrating is hope. Hope that, in spite of all that is wrong with the world, there is the promise for a better tomorrow. Hope that broken relationships can find reconciliation. Hope that trying one more time might bring us the victory that has eluded us repeatedly. Hope that justice will prevail where there has been discrimination and exclusion.
And this hope begins with me and with you. Nineteenth Century author Mary Ann Evans, writing under the pseudonym George Eliot, once wrote, “It is never too late to become what you might have been.” So what do you hope for this holiday season? What as of yet unrealized achievement beckons to you?
Each of us can offer our own special gift to the world by carefully guarding that flame of hope within us which lights our way and fuels our determination to be the change this troubled world so desperately needs.
Have a great week everyone!
Jim
