There are many things which are outside our circle of influence. Many concerns on a local, national, and global level which we may have limited ability to impact. Try as we might, it is sometimes impossible to even change the behavior of those closest to us. There is one arena, however, in which we exercise great influence – our own souls. Saint Francis De Sales once wrote:
Have patience with all things, but chiefly have patience with yourself.
Do not lose courage in considering your own imperfections,
but instantly set about remedying them.
Every day begin the task anew.
May we begin this week with patience and kindness. May we strive to rise to a higher plane, to a purer and more actualized expression of ourselves.
