The Gift Of Darkness

The Gift Of Darkness

by Candyl Eyster | Oct 24, 2016 | monday motivation, monday message, inspiration

There are times in our lives when we are filled with joy and on top of our game. Other times, sadness can wash over us leaving us feeling defeated and downcast. A wise person once said, “I will love the light for it shows me the way, yet I will endure the darkness for...
Each Day Is A New Opportunity

Each Day Is A New Opportunity

by Candyl Eyster | Oct 17, 2016 | monday motivation, monday message, inspiration

No matter what is going on in the world or in our own lives, we greet each new morning with a simple choice. Will we be a part of the solution or part of the problem? Will we focus on the needs of others or will we be consumed by our own concerns? Rumi gives us this...

Finding Joy In The Ordinary

by Candyl Eyster | Sep 26, 2016 | Spiritual Care, monday message, inspiration

I subscribe to the “Happiness” theme on a news app on my phone. It posts scholarly research about what types of lifestyle choices bring us happiness and which do not. These scholarly articles are joined by testimonials from people who are in hot pursuit of happiness,...

Recognize the Beauty in Transformation

by Candyl Eyster | Aug 1, 2016 | monday message, inspiration

Maya Angelou once said, “We delight in the beauty of the butterfly, but rarely admit the changes it has gone through to achieve that beauty.”   To change, to grow, to achieve mastery in life – these things involve work and sweat and failure and determination. ...

Weathering the Impermanence of Joy

by Candyl Eyster | Jul 18, 2016 | Spiritual Care, inspiration, Sin categorizar

So much of our suffering stems from either resisting an unavoidable unpleasant reality or trying to cling to something pleasant which is ephemeral. Consider these lines from poet, William Blake. He who binds to himself...

Do Not Be Discouraged By The Noise And Bad News

by Candyl Eyster | Jul 11, 2016 | monday message, inspiration

Sometimes the bad news can be so noisy.  It demands our attention and tries to shape our perspective.  The point at which it becomes dangerous, however, is when we no longer feel that our contribution matters.  When we think that our efforts to bring some goodness and...

Empath Health
It started with a worn garden flag—and became a reminder that her service still mattered. At 91, Elouise—a Korean War nurse—knows what service means. Empath Hospice of Marion County volunteer Dexter Vance visited her for a special Veteran-to-Veteran pinning. While he was there, he noticed the small weathered American flag in her garden. Dexter returned just days later with a full-sized American flag and carefully mounted it outside Elouise’s home. This Fourth of July, we celebrate stories like Elouise’s and the volunteers like Dexter who make sure every veteran feels honored. Empath Health’s veteran program and affiliation with We Honor Veterans brings compassion, connection, and dignity to veterans at the end of life. Let’s honor their service. Let’s tell their stories. Empath Health
Our Community Partnership team recently hosted a wellness retreat for caregivers at our Empath LIFE facility in Tampa, and we’re still feeling the impact. The day was filled with meaning, from quiet moments of reflection to real connection and care. 🌼Through guided meditation, journaling, and creative self-care, attendees were provided a place to rest, reflect, and reconnect with support and with each other. This retreat reminded us just how important it is to care for those who care for others. We’re so grateful to everyone who could join us. ... See MoreSee Less

When care is personal, it moves you. At our Empath LIFE center in Hillsborough County, a quiet moment turned joyful when our team played “My Girl” for a participant who loves Motown. She got up and danced. That is the power of connected care—when someone truly knows you. Hospice News recently featured how Empath LIFE, our PACE program, reflects our Full Life Care approach. Watch the moment and read the full article in the link in our comments. ... See MoreSee Less
