One of G. K. Chesterton’s most beloved books is a collection of essays entitled, “Tremendous Trifles.”  In these essays, he explores a variety of ordinary things and invites us to see how truly extraordinary they are.  They illustrate to us how the common things add great value to the landscape of daily life.

So often, we are focused on the big things, the grand gestures, the momentous accomplishments.  We want to win the award, or come in first place, or solve a big problem.  There is nothing wrong with setting our sights on great things.  It can inspire us and provide goals to work towards.  Let’s just not forget how vitally important the small things are. Responding with patience to a frustrating situation, giving someone the benefit of the doubt, finding the humor in our day, extending small acts of kindness, gentleness, and respect to those we interact with at work and at home.  For it is in these seemingly insignificant ways that we create our world together.

Have a great week, everyone!
