Suncoast Hospice Director of Spiritual Care Jim Andrews

On this last Monday of National Hospice and Palliative Care month, we celebrate the contributions that hospice care has made to our community and our world. Rachel Joyce , in her novel titled, “The Love Song of Miss Queenie Hennessy” captures the essence of hospice care in this exchange between the main character and her hospice caregiver.

Queenie Hennessy, “I am here to die.”

Sister Mary Inconnue, “Pardon me but you are here to live until you die. There is a significant difference.”

We recognize that the last months and days of our lives can be times of growth and opportunity. May the care we provide not only skillfully address the symptoms of those we serve, but also create sacred spaces for profound experiences.

Have a great week, everyone!
